Keep the neighborhood and the storage entrance together

Extra Space at 1115 NW 46th Street is southeast of 14th Avenue NW and Leary Way NW, with Ballard and Fremont among the communities it serves. Extra Space at 1561 W Armory Way is in Interbay near 15th Avenue West. Public Storage at 1334 Alaskan Way is downtown at Union Street, near the waterfront and Pike Place Market. These addresses offer distinct routes; none should be treated as a generic central Seattle pin.

For regular collections, start with the side of the city where you will actually use the belongings. For a household move, compare the entire home-to-storage-to-new-home sequence. A downtown unit may be useful for small workday collections without being the easiest option for a large van. Confirm the actual unloading entrance, lawful stopping arrangements and vehicle clearances before choosing. Neighborhood names on an operator page describe a catchment, not separate facilities or proof that all nearby search results lie within Seattle.

NW 46th Street: drive-in loading and heated storage

The NW 46th Street branch advertises a drive-in building for sheltered loading, a loading dock, a covered heated loading bay, moving carts and elevators. It offers indoor, first-floor and elevator-access units. Ask which part of that handling infrastructure serves your quoted room: a covered bay does not mean you can drive directly to the unit door, and an elevator route still needs enough clearance for your furniture.

The branch specifically describes heated storage. Heating should not be read as a promise of summer cooling or a controlled humidity range. For delicate items, ask what environmental specification applies to the actual unit and obtain any required limits in writing. It also advertises garage-like storage for small vehicles in selected units. Provide vehicle dimensions and obtain permission for the specific product rather than assuming a household room can be used for a car.

Interbay: distinguish dehumidification from outdoor parking

West Armory Way advertises heated and dehumidified storage, indoor access, first-floor access and elevators. Its general introduction also uses climate-control language; the more specific heating and dehumidification descriptions are better starting points for a detailed conversation. Ask whether your proposed room receives both services and whether there is a stated humidity target. Do not turn a broad facility description into a guarantee for every room.

The Interbay branch lists a covered loading bay, dock, carts and wide aisles for moving trucks. Ask for vehicle height limits and whether the bay has a level cart route to your room. Outdoor vehicle parking is also advertised for RVs, boats, trailers and campers. That is separate from the indoor rooms and does not offer the same environmental protection. Confirm the complete parking-space dimensions, access maneuver and trailer rules before comparing it with the small-vehicle indoor option at NW 46th Street.

Alaskan Way: downtown convenience has an earlier deadline

Alaskan Way is an all-indoor property with climate-control options. Its unit examples include elevator-served rooms, so measure the loading-to-room route instead of assuming that indoor means ground level. Discuss where a moving vehicle can stop, whether a bay or other unloading space can be used and how long you can occupy it. Walking proximity to downtown destinations does not establish parking or truck access.

This property lists tenant access from 9:30am to 6pm on weekdays and 9:30am to 5pm on weekends. NW 46th Street lists 8am to 7pm Monday through Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday. Interbay lists 6am to 10pm daily. These differences can rule out an otherwise appealing unit if you need early work collections or an evening move. Check the current schedule and holiday exceptions, and allow enough time to get out before closing.

Keep belongings dry and compare the complete stay

If your move takes place in wet weather, plan how items travel between the van, unloading area and room. The sheltered handling advertised at NW 46th Street and Interbay is worth comparing, but ask how much of your actual route is covered. Dry outdoor equipment, furniture and cartons before sealing them into storage. Neither a heated room nor dehumidification should be treated as permission to store wet belongings alongside dry paper, textiles or wood.

Get like-for-like written quotes for the same move-in date, dimensions, height, floor and intended stay. Compare total first payment, continuing rent, required cover, locks and administration charges, plus the end of any introductory promotion. Alaskan Way discloses a one-time administration charge, but that is only one component of the rental cost. Ask about minimum stay, notice and final-period billing if your return date is uncertain. Before hiring movers, confirm the executed agreement, usable credential and exact unloading instructions; an online hold alone does not settle those arrangements.
